Who it is NOT for?

If you are looking to make your latte or cappuccino automatically, the Creatista will not be right for you since milk frothing is manual.

For a fully automatically latte maker, the Lattissima Pro will be more suitable. It can make milk-based drinks automatically with a touch of the button with its automatic milk frothing capabilities.

8 Benefits of Breville Nespresso Creatista

1. Design

Breville Nespresso Creatista Espresso Maker

The Breville Nespresso Creatista sports a premium classy design with its stainless steel casing and pleasing curves. It is is available in 2 colors – royal champagne and black.

This latte machine is not tiny, but it’s definitely smaller than most machines that offer professional grade coffee and milk drinks. Being a capsule-based latte maker, there is no need for an integrated grinder or portafilter found in semi-automatic espresso makers. Hence, it only takes up a floor area of 6.7 inches wide and 16.1 inches deep and its height is only 12.2 inches.

2. Drink Quality

The Nespresso Creatista uses the Nespresso capsule system. This means that the coffee quality is consistent and of high quality and the coffee freshness is preserved in the airtight capsules. With good quality and fresh coffee ( and with good quality water too ), that’s one half of the equation to making good espresso.

The other half is fulfilled with its 19 bar pressure pump and the specially designed shape of the Nespresso capsule. The 19 bar pressure is sufficient to provide the power to drive hot water through the ground coffee. The shape of the capsule ensures that water flows evenly through the coffee during the extraction process. Both combine to release the many aromas and flavours found inside the coffee.

Thus, you can get to taste a highly consistent and delicious espresso each and every time.

Besides making good espresso, the Breville Nespresso Creatista also makes great Latte and cappuccinos.

For making a delicious milk-based drink like Latte, the temperate of the milk is very important. It has to be very precise. Hence, the Nespresso Creatista comes with a temperature sensor for you to monitor the milk temperature. This sensor is located in the drip tray. So when you place the milk jug under the milk sprout, the jug will rest just nicely on top of the sensor and gives you accurate measurements.

3.Multiple Drink Options

With the Nespresso Creatista, you can make ristretto, espresso and lungo. You can also make milk-based drinks such as latte, cappuccino, flat white, latte macchiato.

8 types of beverages on this one coffee maker still not good enough? There’s more!

You can also adjust the preset coffee volume to change the intensity of your espresso. For ristretto and espresso, the adjustable volume is between 0.85 ounces (25 ml) to 2 ounces (60 ml). And for Lungo, it is between 2.37 ounces (70ml) to 5ounces (150ml).

For milk based drinks, you can select between 3 different texture levels and 5 different temperatures for your milk.

If you like to experiment with your latte taste further, you can also adjust both the milk textures and temperature. For the milk texture, it is anything from 2mm ( 0.06 inches ) to 30 mm (1.2 inches). And for the temperature, it ranges between 56 to 76 degree Celsius ( or 133 to 169 degree Fahrenheit ). This is great for those who wish to create their own latte art!

4.Easy to use

Nespresso Creatista lcdThe high resolution colored LCD display is something that sets the Creatista apart from lower end Nespresso models that have just one button.

On the Creatista, you can rotate the select button to select the drink you would like to create when it comes across the screen. Similarly, just press the select button to adjust espresso volume, milk temperature, or milk froth texture.

Preparing your favourite beverage drinks on this coffee maker is also very efficient. The Creatista takes just 10 seconds to heat up the water. For making latte and cappuccino, there is also no need to wait for the machine to heat up from from espresso to frothing temperature.

Since the Creatista uses capsules, there is also no need to spend time to grind coffee beans, tamp ground coffee or clean up coffee powder spillovers.

In addition, the water tank has a large capacity of 1.5 liters ( 50 ounces ). This means that you can make more cups of latte before you need to head over the sink. The capsule container can also hold up to 10 used capsules. If you are always tight on time in the morning, you can wait til the weekend before emptying the container.

5.Ease of cleaning

Cleaning the Nespresso Creatista is also easy. The drip grid, drip tray, cup support and water tank are easy removable for washing. With a smooth surface, it is also easy to wipe the exterior of this coffee machine.

The steam wand also purges excess milk out automatically after each use. So you can just wipe the steam wand with a cloth.

The drip tray will also alert you when it becomes full so you know when to clean it.

6.Ease of Maintenance

Over time, the boiling of hot water will cause lime to build up in the machine. This scale build up will affect coffee taste and also affect the heating circulation in the machine and thus reducing the lifespan of the coffee maker.

Thus, regular descaling is required. The descaling will remove the build-up. However, the frequency of descaling depends on the water hardness and how regular you use the coffee maker.

Fortunately, there is no need to track the amount of use on the Nespresso Creatista. It comes with descaling alert and will prompt you when descaling is required. This is great, as you’re probably more concerned with your coffee than the status of the machine’s heating element on a daily basis.

To ensure descaling is done, the Creatista will lock itself from use after 10 uses from the descaling alert if the descaling cycle is not performed. The remaining number of uses will also show up on the screen to allow you to know how many uses you have left.

7.Energy Saving

The Nespresso Creatista is very energy efficient. It will reduce power usage when idle. The LCD display will dim after 2 minutes of non-use and shutdown after 10 minutes.

8.Welcome pack

The Creatista also comes with complimentary gift pack of 16 Original Line capsules of different aroma. This gives you chance to find your favourite Grand Cru without ordering a box for the different aromas.

Can only use Nespresso capsules

The Creatista can only use Nespresso capsules. Thus, you won’t be able to tweak the latte taste using different coffee beans or grinds. But that’s the trade off for not dealing with the messy coffee powder.

So what make the Creatista Plus more attractive to latte and cappuccino lovers?

Here are the differences!

4 Differences between Creatista and Creatista Plus

Milk Temperature

Whereas the Creatista only has 3 milk temperatures, the Creatista Plus has 11 milk temperatures to choose from.

Milk Texture

You get 8 different milk textures on the Creatista Plus as compared to 4 on the Creatista.

Faster Heatup Time

Creatista takes 10 seconds to heat up water. But the Creatista Plus can do that in just 3 seconds!

Sturdier built

The Creatista Plus only comes in full stainless steel. There are no colored plastic panels on that baby, just pure metal.

These differences constitute the “Plus” and the extra $100 fee. If you are rolling your eyes right now, you might want to consider just opting for the Creatista and not the Creatista Plus.

Nespresso Creatista versus Creatista Plus: Which is better?

Both of these machines are built for people who want the very best in homebrew espresso and milk coffee drinks. While the price is high, the quality is generally good.

These machines are not recommended to people who are not interested in milk coffee drinks.

If you are someone who would like to make a milk coffee drink with a milk other than whole milk, buyer beware! You may end up with hot milk that has the wrong texture. You’re probably better off with a less expensive machine.

If you are a person who likes the fashion-forward look of the royal champagne or black panels, get the Creatista. In order to justify that purchase, you must also be okay with only having 3 milk temperature settings and the slightly weaker taste of Creatista espresso.

For those who like to play with Latte Art or is very sensitive to the temperature of milk, opt for the Creatista Plus. You will be able to pick from 11 milk temperature settings and you will also get the stainless steel machine body. If the thought of 11 milk temperatures freaks you out (can your body even detect that subtle of a difference?!) save your $100 and go with the Creatista. Which machine will you choose?
