There isn't any coffee machine which would be ideal for everyone. The same applies to Nespresso machines. So you need to be careful when you're deciding which Nespresso machine you might invest in.

There are numerous factors which you should consider while deciding on the best Nespresso machine for your home. It could be the amount of money you are willing to spend.  It may be which features you require the most.  It can also be how well it looks and fit on top of your kitchen counter.

OriginalLine vs VertuoLine – A quick comparison

Before looking at the factors, let’s make clear of some confusing terminology. You may have heard of the Nespresso Vertuoline and Originalline. So what do they mean?

The Originalline and Vertuoline are Nespresso’s two separate product lines, with the latter being its newer product line.

So what are the differences?

The main difference in the two product lines is in the technology used to produce the coffee. The models in Nespresso OrginalLine uses a pump to create the high pressure required to extract the flavours from the coffee capsules. Whereas the Vertouline models extract coffee by spinning the capsule at 7000 revolutions per minute to produce a centrifugal force on the coffee capsule.

The capsules used by the Nespresso Original Line and Vertuo Line models are also different in sizes. In addition, the Vertuoline machines uses automatic blend recognition to set the brewing parameters by reading barcodes etched on the Vertuoline capsules.

Another thing to note is that Vertuoline models can make both coffee and espresso. So if you like to alternate between coffee and espresso, you can skip directly to the Vertuoline models.

Different Types of Nespresso Machines Compared

Now that we are clear of the two different Nespresso product lines. Let’s narrow down our search by comparing the different types of Nespresso models that meet our needs.

Basically, the Nespresso models can be classified into 5 main groups, each serving a particular need.

  1. OriginalLine machines without milk frother
  2. Premium OriginalLine machines without milk frother
  3. OriginalLine machines with automatic milk frothing capability
  4. Original line machines with manual frothers
  5. Vertuoline machines

1.    OriginalLine Machines Without Milk Frother

Inissia, Essena, Pixie and Citiz falls under this group. They have one thing in common. They are really compact. In fact, they are the most compact among the four groups.

With their compact sizes, their water tank capacity is also smaller than the other groups.

And they can only make espresso. For making milk-based drinks like latte and cappuccino, a separate milk frother has to be purchased.

However, with the limited features, they are easy to use. Their prices are also most affordable.

These Nespresso models are catered to pure espresso lovers who do not want to sacrifice too much space nor spend too much budget for their coffee machines.

2.    Premium OriginalLine Machines Without Milk Frother

The Nespresso KitchenAid and Nespresso Expert come under this group. Similar to first group, they can make milk-based drinks with a separate milk frother.  However, they are priced higher due to better asthetic design and/or more features such as temperature control, Blue tooth connectivity.

3.    OriginalLine Machines With Automatic Milk Frothing Capability

The Nespresso Lattissima series belong to this category. These Nespresso models can make you milk-based drinks automatically with their integrated automatic milk frothers.

With more capabilities, there are also more control buttons as compared to the first category. Nevertheless, they are still easy to use. Making coffee drinks  on them, including milk-based drinks, is just a one-touch operation.

Although slightly larger than the first group, they remain pretty compact.

However, with added capabilities, they are also more expensive with a price range slightly under 400 to about 600 dollars.

This group of Nespresso OriginalLine models are for those who like to make latte or cappuccino automatically without much hassle.

4.    OriginalLine Machines With Manual Frothers

The Nespresso Creatista models fall under this group. These machines come with an integrated steam wand for frothing milk.

These Nespresso machines are bigger in size. In terms of design, they are also the most elegant amongst the four groups.

If you want to practice steaming milk or even make latte art while retaining the convenience of making espresso automatically, this group of Original Line machines is worth considering.

5.    Vertuoline Machines

As mentioned earlier, the models in the Vertuoline can make coffee and espresso.  The ability to make coffee is not available in the models in the Originalline.

However, making milk-based drinks will require a separate milk frother.

These models use only the Nespresso Vertuoline capsules which have barcode etched on them. These barcodes provide the machine with the information required  to automatically set the brewing parameters best suited for the specific capsule blend used.

Originalline capsules simply won’t work on the Vertuoline models as they don’t have any barcode on them. This also means that you can’t use the wide variety of Nespresso-compatible capsules in a Vertuoline model.

Another thing to note is that the Vertuoline capsules are relatively more expensive than the Original Line capsules. Originalline capsules cost between 75 and 85 cents. However, Vertuoline capsules cost 90 cents to $1.25.

As compared to costs of buying an espresso from a local coffee joint daily, you still get to save over 1000 dollars over a year. Don’t forget about the convenience of using capsules to make an espresso and the time saved from joining the long queues at coffee joints to buy your espresso.

The price of a Nespresso Vertuoline model is also priced at an affordable range. If you like both coffee and espresso, you can give this one a go.

Factors to consider for choosing the Best Nespresso model

Now that we have a overview on the different categories of Nespresso machines, let’s take a look at the important factors to take note when selecting the best Nespresso machine for your home.

1. Drink Preferences

The most important factor that you need to consider is what kinds of coffee a Nespresso machine can make. For example, if you like drinking cappuccino, your selection will probably narrow down to the Nespresso machines with its own milk steamer attached with it. With an integrated milk frother, you don't have to bother with preparing the milk separately. Of course, you can still buy a separate milk frother too if that’s what you prefer.

Also, the brew sizes available for the particular Nespresso model will be of concern if you like espresso with different volumes like ristetto or lungo.

2. Price

The Nespresso espresso makers are available at different price points. The cheapest such as the Nespresso Essenza is well below the 200 dollar mark while the more expensive Nespresso models can is close to 600 dollars.

However, in comparison to the other espresso machines available on the market, the price range of the Nespresso machines is affordable. At the same time, there is no need to make a compromise on the quality. So Nespresso coffee makers are pretty good value for money.  Hence, Nespresso machines is very popular, since they fit within the budgets of most people.

One important thing to keep in mind is that the Nespresso machine itself isn't the only cost consideration. Nespresso machines use Nespresso capsules to make the coffee drink.  These capsules  will have their own different recurring costs based on which Nespresso machine you have. You will need to spend anywhere from $0.70 to $1.20 per serving. Do keep this fact in mind while deciding which Nespresso machine to buy.

3. Visual Appeal

If you aren't already aware, Nespresso machines come in all kinds of different shapes, sizes, colors, and styles. Although this might not be a priority for some people, if there is a certain theme to your kitchen decor, you may not want to break the pattern.

Depending on which Nespresso machine you want, you may or may not have a variety of options. For instance, the Lattissma Pro is only available in white. On the other hand, the KitchenAid Nespresso machine is offered in 6 different color options.

4. Size

It doesn't come as a surprise to anyone that the wide range of Nespresso machines come in various sizes. Some are compact and will fit on top of your kitchen countertop without taking a lot of space, but some Nespresso machines may occupy more space than some of the other machines.

You may want some extra features, but you might have to settle for something less just because of the size of the machine. Wewould encourage you to also keep this factor in mind while assessing which is the best Nespresso machine for you.

5. Ease of Operation and Maintenance

If convenience is the absolute top priority for you, make sure the Nespresso machine you get does not have a complicated mechanism that you don't want to deal with every morning.

Similarly, you would want to make sure that your Nespresso machine is easy to clean and maintain on a regular basis. If you maintain your Nespresso machine well, you will definitely extend its life.  So it is certainly a must-do on a regular basis to extract more value for your money spent!

6. Features

Every Nespresso machine has its own unique features which are definitely worth considering. It is not necessary that every Nespresso machine will have the same basic features or the same functions as all the other ones.

For example, some Nespresso machines have different serving sizes because they can only serve in smaller cup sizes or that some machines heat up way faster than others.

So, pay close attention to all the features that I will point out in the individual product reviews, to decide which is the Nespresso machine meets your requirements. Some Nespresso machines may also come with additional components. For example, the Nespresso Aeroccino is needed to create milk froth when you purchase the Nespresso models without milk frother like the Nespresso Pixie.

7. Warranty

The best Nespresso might be affordable and perfect for you, but make sure you check how much of it is covered under the warranty. Just so that any potential repairs or replacements don't turn out to be expensive.

Consider all the above options carefully. Even something as simple as the availability of a certain color may change your mind about which is the best Nespresso machine for you!

Design

Nespresso Essenza Mini is Nespresso's most compact espresso machine without making any compromises in the quality.

Nespresso has made the Essenza Mini available in two shapes, one is conical and the other one is rectangular. The conical shaped Essenza is manufactured by Breville while the rectangular one is by Delonghi.

Between the two, the rectangular model takes up less space and is available in the following three colors: black, pure white and intense grey. Whereas the conical one is available in red, white and lime.

The Essenza Mini has its roots in Nespresso's Citiz model. The machine's water reservoir is fitted at the back. The capsule and the drip tray container are placed in the front and all you need to do is pull out the entire black plastic part to take it out.

The lever mechanism is on the front center on the top makes it possible to allow for a quick opening and closing movement. You won't find a milk foaming machine with the Essenza Mini, owing to the fact that it is the simplest Nespresso machine available.  Hence, it is also the cheapest Nespresso machine.

Performance

The setup is extremely simple as one would expect from a compact Nespresso machine. All you need to do is clean the water reservoir, fill it up with water, and make a few servings to clean the machine from the inside. After you've done that, simply refill the water reservoir to get the machine ready for making your coffee. The mechanism works exactly like some other Nespresso machines, for eg. the Nespresso Pixie or the Nespresso Citiz.

The only significant changes that have been made are in the design and size of the machine .You can safely trust your Essenza Mini to produce delightful cups of espresso and lungo coffee. The taste and quality of the coffee are always consistent, just like all the other coffee machines manufactured by Nespresso.

In terms of quantity, the Essenza Mini allows you to derive 5 or 6 cups before the cup tray gets full and you should also be able to make 4 cups of coffee before needing to refill the water reservoir.

Although the Essenza Mini is the smallest coffee machine made by Nespresso, it still successfully manages to retain all the features of the bigger ones and there are no compromises made when it comes to the taste and quality of the coffee.

Cons

There is only one factor worth pointing out as a con, and that is the sound that the machine makes. Since it produces a pressure of 19 Bar, it does produce a significant amount of noise.

Who is Nespresso Essenza suitable for?

The Nespresso Essenza is priced under $150. At the given price point, the Essenza Mini is a great yet affordable way to go, along with variations in size and colors. If you simply want to make espresso or lungo with minimal cost, this automatic pod-based espresso maker is your go-to Nespresso machine.

The Nespresso Citiz has all the features of the Essenza. The way to operate the Citiz is also the same as the Essenza. There are only two buttons, one for each drink option. To power up the coffee maker, just press either of the two buttons.

While the Essenza has a plastic exterior, the Citiz has more steel parts. It also has a wider base and is taller than the Essenza.

Other than the difference in asthetic look, there is one important functional difference. The Citiz  has a larger used capsule container for 9 used capsules and a water tank with a capacity of 34 ounces. This  is almost 1.5 times  that of the Essenza.

Its water tank has a capacity of 34 ounces which is almost 1.5 times that of the Essenza.  This is convenient when you are serving a large group since you can topup water less frequently.

The used capsule containers can store up to 9 capsules which is also 1.5 times that of the Essenza. This

This difference makes the Citiz a better option if you want to topup water or empty used capsules less frequently.

Note : There are two designs for the Citiz with the only difference in the shape of the coffee sprout.

Who is the Nespresso Citiz for?

If you are serving a large group, the larger used capsule storage and water tank capacity will give you more convenience since you can topup water or empty used capsules less frequently.

Other than that, there is really not much difference between the Citiz and Essenza. In fact, the Essenza looks much better in terms of its asthetic outlook.

Nespresso Pixie

Nespresso Pixie Espresso Machine by De'LonghiCheck Latest Price At Amazon

The Nespresso Pixie is also similar to the Essenza in terms of features. However, it has a third button used for powering up the machine.

The design is also more industrialized, with metallic panels by the sides. In terms of water tank capacity, Nespresso Pixie is only marginally larger at 24 ounces compared to Essenza.

However, it can store up to 11 used capsules which is almost 2 times as compared to Essenza. But this will only mean that you can empty used capsules less frequently. There doesn’t really help with a small water tank.

Note : There are two designs for the Pixie with the only difference in the shape of the coffee sprout.

Who is Nespresso Pixie for?

The Pixie is pretty much the same as the Essenza.  Unless you like Pixie’s industrial metallic look or its larger used capsule container,  Essenza will make a better choice.

Nespresso Inissia

The Nespresso Inissia is no longer listed in the list of Original Line machines on the Nespresso website. Nevertheless, we can still find them on the Amazon.

The Inissia is the more playful version of Pixie with its bolder colors. Apart from color, the Inissia only has two buttons just like the Essenza and Citiz, with either of the two buttons doubling up as the power button.  Apart from these two differences, Inissia has the exact same features as the Pixie.

Who is the Nespresso Inissia for?

Innisia is pretty much the same as Essenza.  If you ask us, we’ll go for either Essenza for the added portability or Citiz for the extra water tank capacity.

Premium Original Line machines without Milk Frother

Nespresso KitchenAid

Design

When you look at the Nespresso KitchenAid, you will find yourself admiring the beautiful metal body which gives it a truly premium feel. The type of material used in making the KitchenAid is something that Nespresso has never really experimented with.

If you know anything about Nespresso machines, you probably also know that most of their coffee machines are made of plastic. And to change that very fact, Nespresso collaborated with KitchenAid, which is owned by Whirlpool.

The KitchenAid coffee machines go for a really retro look, giving off the vibes of being from the 1950s. You also have an option to choose from these 6 colors- candy apple red, dark pewter, frosted pearl silver, sugar pearl silver, empire red, and onyx black.

The basic functionality is similar to some other Nespresso machines like the Pixie, or the Inissia. The technology used is still the same, it has a thermoblock for heating the water, a 19 bar pressure pump and the familiar capsule system at the top with the auto-eject mechanism.

The KitchenAid does, however, have more water capacity than most other Nespresso machines, allowing it to hold up to 1.4 liters of water. There is also a fold-up tray which brings smaller cups near the coffee spout. The used pod box is located on the rear end, with the capability of holding about 14 used capsules. The design also facilitates extreme convenience as all you need to operate are a brewing button, a knob, and a manual lever.

Features

  • Types of Coffee : Espresso
  • Brew sizes : Espresso, Lungo
  • Water tank capacity : 44 ounces (1.3 liters)
  • Pump Pressure : 19 Bar
  • Control : knob with 6 adjustable levels, 3 each for espresso and lungo respectively
  • Water Heat-up time : 25 seconds
  • Automatic shutdown : After 9 minutes. Can be adjusted to 15, 20 or 30 minutes.
  • Dimensions : 8.2 inches wide x 12.9 inches deep x 12.9 inches tall
  • Available Colors : 6 - candy apple red, dark pewter, frosted pearl silver, sugar pearl silver, empire red, and onyx black
  • Weight : 8.9 Pounds
  • Used capsule container capacity : 14
  • Able to program drink volume : No
  • Power: 1600 Watts
  • External Material : Metal
  • Warranty : 2 year

Performance

The way the KitchenAid works is also pretty easy to understand, although it has one extra step involved when compared to the Essenza Mini.

You will need to rotate the knob either to the right or to the left to pick between either espresso or lungo. You can use the knob to adjust the indicator from 1-6, depending on what kind of beverage you want.

After that, simply press the Nespresso button on the center to start heating the water up, and your coffee will be served in the cup you've placed below.

Just like any other Nespresso machine, as long as you don't alter the setting, you can expect the exact same delightful flavor each time. When you're done, all you need to do is pull the lever up and the used capsule will be released into the spent capsule container and a new capsule will be loaded for the next time. It is indeed quite simple and easy.

Cons

After all that excitement, the only real turn off about the Nespresso KitchenAid is that it doesn't come with a milk frother.

Who is the Nespresso KitchenAid for?

So, if you want to make espresso or long blacks, or maybe even a cappuccino and you want that retro feel in your kitchen while doing it, the KitchenAid should be your best Nespresso machine.

Nespresso Expert

Design

The Nespresso Expert has a sleek and minimalistic design with a touch of modernity and of course, a great coffee making capacity. Weighing in at less than 10Ibs, the Expert sits beautifully on any countertop and is available in Off Black and Anthracite Grey.

The interface is stylish and easy to use. There are LED alerts, which help you keep track of certain maintenance items such as when to descale the 0machine, filling up the water reservoir etc.

The modernity comes in with the Bluetooth connectivity. The machine can be operated through Bluetooth with the Nespresso app. The app provides multiple offers such as setting a schedule to make coffee, changing the settings, letting you know when you're running out of capsules. This definitely makes getting that cup of coffee in the morning much easier and efficient.

The Expert is quite literally an expert in making coffee and has a rotary knob that lets you select from 5 modes, namely Ristretto, Espresso, Lungo, Americano and an option for hot water.

Features

  • Types of Coffee: Espresso & Americano and an option for hot water
  • Brew sizes : Ristretto, Espresso, Lungo
  • Water Tank capacity: 37 ounces

  • Able to program drink volume : yes
  • External material : plastic
  • Bluetooth connectivity : yes
  • Descaling alert : Yes
  • Empty water tank alert : Yes
  • Empty capsule container alert : Yes
  • Temperature control : Yes - warm, hot and extra hot

Performance

Making yourself that cup of coffee with the Nespresso Expert is just as easy as it is good. You first have to fill the removable water reservoir and put in your preferred capsule into the machine. After which you go on to adjust the knobs to your desired settings. The last step is to press the button on the machine, sit back and relax.

The 19 bars worth of pump pressure is guaranteed to assure that you will get the maximum flavor extraction with each cup of coffee. Along with the 5 modes you can choose on the rotary knob, the Expert also has 3 temperature variants, warm, hot and extra hot.

Cons

Although the machine has an innovative magnetic mug stand, some of my larger mugs do not fit in the stand. Due to there being a pressure of 19 bar, the machine produces a slight buzzing sound, which might put a few off.

Who is the Nespresso Expert suitable for?

The Nespresso Expert is for any coffee aficionado, who wants to carry a sleek and minimalistic style. With a more expensive price tag of around 300 dollars, this is still justified, given the wonderful services provided because of the Bluetooth connectivity.

If you like to control the temperature of your espresso or the blue tooth technology, the Nespresso Expert is ideal for you.

As always, the drinks that the machine produces are consistent and have a near perfect taste. You even have the ability to adjust the quantity and the density of the foam, while making a cappuccino or latte.

Cons

The only factor that comes close to being a con with this one is that the Lattissima Pro is only available in a black and silver aluminum finish.

Who is Nespresso Pro for?

Nespresso Pro is a fully automatic pod-based latte and cappuccino maker. If you like milk based drinks and like to do it with minimal hassle, the Nespresso Pro is most ideal for you.

Nespresso Lattissima Pro vs Touch vs Plus vs One

Other than Lattissma Pro, there are 3 more models in the Lattissima series – Touch, Plus and One. All 4 machines are very similar and can make milk-based drinks automatically.

Nevertheless, there are important differences which make one model a better choice. Out of the 4 machines, we like Lattissima Pro better as it can hold more water, milk and used capsules.  With a larger capacity, we can maximize the convenience from this machine to make milk-based drinks automatically.

Check out the table to compare the 4 different nespresso machines in this Lattissma series at a glance.

Original line machines with manual frothers

Nespresso Creatista

Design

The Nespresso Creatista is borned from the collaboration between Nespresso and another well known coffee maker, Breville.

Hence, the Nespresso Creatista combines the convenience of Nespresso capsule system with the Breville’s advanced milk texturing technology.

The Creatista has a very prominent steam pipe, which means that you will have to froth the milk manually, instead of the machine doing it. This allows you to make your latte art, giving your coffee a cafe or barista twist.

The Creatista has a stainless steel front and plastics sides. It weighs about 11.4 pounds and is available in 2 colors - Royal Champagne and Black.

With the Nespresso Creatista, you can make 7 different drinks. You can make ristretto, espresso and lungo. You can also make milk-based drinks such as latte, cappuccino, flat white, latte macchiato. If you desire a different volume for your drink, you could reprogramme the default drink volumes.

More importantly, the Creatista also have 4 different milk texture settings and 5 temperature settings for you to choose from. This is something not found in the Lattissma models. If this is not enough, you could also adjust the default values for the milk texture and temperature settings.

All these settings are accessible from a intuitive LCD display and a rotary knob for navigating the menu on the LCD display.

For people who are constantly caught in a rush, they will appreciate that the Creatista has a heat up time of merely 10 seconds! This is the fastest heatup time among all the Nespresso models!

One important feature to mention is the steam pipe. It does not heat up and is cool to touch, meaning you won't accidentally burn yourself while making your coffee. The pipe also auto purges after you are done with your steaming.  This will clean any milk remaining inside the pipe.

Performance

In most Nespresso coffee makers, the Aeroccino is what turns an ordinary coffee into a light, frothy latte or even a cappuccino. However, the Creatista produces textured milk that helps build the flavor and makes it creamy.

This texture of the milk makes it much easier to make beautiful latte art, once you get the hang of it since the milk is simpler to control. Of course, you will need a bit of practice before you can make beautiful roses, hearts, and ferns on your coffee.

Like most Nespresso coffee makers, the Creatista also has a pressure of 19 bars, which means you'll be getting the most flavor in your coffee. The machine also has a water tank capacity of 1.5 liters, which signifies that you won't have to refill the water reservoir as often.

With such additional features like the quick heat up and different heat temperatures and texturing settings, making a perfect cup of coffee with the Creatista becomes that much easier and of course, helps justify the price.

Who is the Nespresso Creatista for?

Nespresso Creatista is ideal for those who like to create Latte Art but dislike the hassle of dealing with messy coffee powder. With its smooth curves and high quality finishes, the Creatista is a nice-looking piece of appliance to place at the kitchen counter too!

Nespresso Creatista Plus

If you find the Creatista having too few milk texture and temperature selections, you will probably like the Creatista Plus.

The Nespresso Creatista Plus is basically an upgrade of the Creatista. It works exactly like the Creatista.  But there are improvements in 4 features.

Differences between Creatista Plus and Creatista

Faster Heatup Time

Creatista Plus takes just 3 seconds to heat up the water. This is 7 seconds faster than Creatista!

More Milk Temperature Selections

There are 11 milk temperatures setting to choose from in the Creatista Plus as compared to only 4 milk temperature settings in the Creatista.

More Milk Texture Selections

In the Creatista, you only have 4 milk textures settings. But in the Creatista Plus, you have twice the number! In total, there are 8 different milk textures on the Creatista Plus.

Sturdier built

In addition, there are no plastic panels in the Creatista Plus. Its entire exteriors are made of full stainless steel.

Who is the Creatista Plus For?

For this added performances and finishing, the Creatista Plus costs about an extra $100.

If you ask whether it is worth it, it really depends if you need the extra milk temperature and texture selections. After all, you can always adjust the settings on the Creatista.

The Creatista Plus does have a much faster heatup time than the Creatisa. But frankly, 10 seconds is like walking over to the sink to topup the water tank. So 3 seconds vs 10 seconds? Is there a need to get a machine that heats up in 3 seconds?

But one thing we do like is the full stainless steel exterior. It sure gives the Creatista Plus a classy and premium look. It is definitely a nice piece to place on our kitchen counter!

Performance

Through the automatic blend recognition technology present in Vertuoline machines, the Vertuo is basically a one-button machine. There is no need to set any parameters as all required information on the brewing parameters are found on the bar codes for the specific capsule blend. These information include the flow and volume of water, as well as temperature etc.

The Vertuo also has a fast heat up time of 15 seconds. So there’s practically no much waiting before making your first brew. In fact, this heat up time is the fastest amongst the Vertuoline models and almost all of the OriginalLine models.

In addition, it has five different brew sizes. For espresso, you can have a single, double shot espresso or lungo. For coffee, you can have a normal 7.7 ounces coffee or  a large 14 ounces Alto.

The Vertuo also comes with a cleaning function that flushes clean water through the system. This helps you to keep the internal flow system clean.

For regular maintenance, the Vertuo will provide descaling alerts when it is time to descale the machine. Descaling is easy to perfom by running the descaling program using the Nespresso descaling liquid.

Cons

One con of the Vertuo or any other Vertuoline models is that the crema layer is more foamy than that produced by the OriginalLine models. But if you are not too particular about the crema, then this isn’t much of a concern.

Who is the Nespresso Vertuo for?

If you like to need a coffee maker which can make you both coffee and espresso, go for the Nespresso Vertuo.

Nespresso Evoluo

Nespresso Vertuo Evoluo Coffee and Espresso Machine

Check Price

The Nespresso Evoluo is an improved version of the Vertuo. It works the same way as the Vertuo with the same centrifusion and automatic blend recognition technology. Hence using the Evoluo is also a one-button operation.

The design is almost the same, with both the water tank and used capsule container located on its sides.  The walls of the water tank and used capsule container are still made of translucent plastic for easy viewing of the inside.

The main difference is a larger water tank capacity of 54 ounces and a used capsule container capacity of 17 capsules. The larger water tank is definitely a desired upgrade if you regularly made the large 14 ounces Alto on your coffee machine.

Even If you just make regular coffee or espresso, a large water tank complemented with 17 capsules mean less time spent on topping up water and emptying used capsules every week!

Who is the Nespresso Evoluo for?

If you like to make Alto regularly, go for the Evoluo for the extra convenience provided by the larger water tank. Or if you like to leave the work of topping up water and emptying used capsule to the weekends, the Evoluo is worth considering.

Nespresso VertuoPlus was introduced after the Vertuo model.  The “Plus” in its name seems to suggest enhancements in the features. But this machine takes a little longer time of about 20 seconds to heat up. It also has a smaller used capsule capacity of 10 mug capsules and a slightly smaller water tank capacity of 37.1 ounces.

However, there is an additional nice feature in the VertuoPlus. Its water tank can be rotated from either sides to its back. This gives you more ways to fit the VertuoPlus into any corner of the kitchen. The 2 different designs for the VertuoPlus (each design is manufactured by different manufacturer) is also more appealing than the Vertuo.

Who is the Nespresso VertuoPlus for?

If you like the adjustable water tank position feature, go for the VertuoPlus.

Best Nespresso Machine Reviews : Our Recommendations

Wow. That's our comparison on the different Nespresso models. Now's we are going to round up all these nespresso machine reviews and tell you our preferred model for each category of Nespresso machines.

Best Nespresso Machine (OriginalLine  only) without milk frother

Nespresso Essenza Mini espresso Machine by De'Longhi

Check Latest Price At Amazon

Of the 6 nespresso models under this category ( Inissia, Pixie, Citiz, Essenza, KitchenAid and Expert ), we feel that Essenza is the best Nespresso machine for making espresso. It has a nice design and very portable due to its compact dimensions.

Out of the 6 models, they all make the same quality of espresso. We don’t see a need to pay for the additional tank capacity, the metallic exterior of the KitchenAid nor the additional temperature controls and Bluetooth connectivity in the Expert. Thus, we recommend going for the Essenza, the cheapest model in the Nespresso Original Line Machines.

Of the 4 Lattissima models, Pro is our favourite Nespresso latte machine. We like it better for its large water, milk and capsule capacities. With a larger capacity, we can maximize the convenience from this machine to make milk-based drinks automatically.

There are only Creatista and Creatista Plus in this category. Although the Creatista Plus has more milk texture and temperature selections and a faster heatup time, we don’t see the need to pay an extra $100.

Afterall, the difference between 3 and 10 seconds in heat up time isn’t really obvious. Also, there is no need for so many texture and temperature selection for the milk since we can also reprogramme the settings on the Creatista.
