The handle must move past the lock icon in order to secure it. You should be able to lock the handle by turning it to the left until it stops right at the lock icon.

If you are unable to pair your Nespresso machine with bluetooth, you can remove the Vertuo Next from the machines registered on Nespresso.com by logging in to your account and clicking “Machines.” Then perform a Nespresso Vertuo Next factory reset. Be sure the machine is turned on and plugged in. Inactivity may cause the machine to turn off after 2 minutes, so be sure to leave it on. If your phone is connected to the machine, go to the Bluetooth settings and unpair it. Update your phone software and download the latest Nespresso App. Be sure Wi-Fi, Bluetooth function, and Location Services are enabled. Simply place your device atop the machine and attempt pairing again by opening the Nespresso App. Throughout the pairing process, you must keep the machine on and connected to the WiFi network. If the machine turns off, connect it to Wi-Fi again.
Why is my Nespresso Vertuo Next not able to work with WIFI?
If you are unable to connect your Vertuo Next to the Wifi, you can perform these steps. Plug your machine into a stable power source and turn it on. Close the Nespresso App, then open it again. Make sure you have a strong Wi-Fi connection. Nespresso App can be started by tapping the machine’s icon, then selecting the “Connectivity” box. The app will search for wireless networks. Select “Refresh” which is found at the bottom in the screen if none are detected. Be sure to turn the machine back on if it has been turned off. Select the network you would like to connect to, enter your password, and then tap connect. Select OK once the connection has been established. You should see “Connected” under Connectivity.
